387 - 390 - Hey! I'm in Summerworks - COME SEE ME!

I'm in this really amazing play in the Summerworks Festival Toronto, its called "Danforth".

The events of the play surround two characters. One is a 23-year old Greek waiter named George who has a confidence issue when it comes to a girl he likes. (I'm that girl!) The other is a 15-year old Greek kid named Kostas D.

If you are in and around town, you should check it out!

Day 383 - 386 - On Set!

So 3 days with no sleep...rehearsals, filming, more rehearsals and repeat. That's all I've been doing for the last 3 days....I'm exhausted.

In fact I felt like a bit of a tool when I showed up an hour...yes an hour last for my morning rehearsals for the theatre production that I'm in.

On Friday I had been on set filming the webseries until 6:00 a.m.

After filming all night,  I had a Saturday morning 9 a.m. rehearsal for the theatre project I'm in. So I only slept for like 3 hours. I set my alarm but unfortunately I was so tired that I completely missed it. I just so happened to show up at 10:00 a.m. An hour late to my theatre rehearsal.  But I did bring muffins to the morning rehearsal...so I hope that makes up for it? Probably not...

We rehearsed from 10:00 a.m. until 3 p.m, I left the theatre rehearsal and then got myself into the make-up chair for 6:00 p.m. for another day of filming for the webseries...

After another 6:00 a.m. wrap I rolled into bed, closed all the curtains and slept all day today until errrr 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon.

Tis the life of an actor...

What I Learned

383 - 386 - I'm busy but I got to make sure, I get a grip on everything.

Day 381 & 382 : I'd like feedback...Hold the Criticism.

If you read my post about me messing up in class well here's an update on how today went. You may want to read this before we begin.

My acting teacher is not the nicest man you've ever met, he's talented at what he does but sometimes people aren't meant to be teachers...I don't know...maybe maybe not...

Not sure if he gets off in publicly humiliating people or what his deal is but after a series of classes of extreme torture...i.e sitting in a room with this man who never ever liked anything I did... I practiced this line over and over....

"I don't need your criticism, I require feedback that I can actually use to make my work grow...that's what I'm paying for..."

I was so ready to use that line because the truth is I don't care. This guy isn't better then me...and no one deserves to push anyone around. It's just not polite.

But as it turns out, I didn't need to use it, after four grueling and painful classes he actually gave me feedback today...something I can use to make my work grow.

Finally.

It's like phycologically he knew "Don't mess with me...I'm not in the mood for your S&$%. Douch!"

What I Learned

Stand up for yourself. (even if it is in your mind) Only you can make yourself feel worthless.
