Let me first start to tell you about the audition. I bring my ugliest bridesmaid dress and stroll into the casting office. I'm thankful that the audition was at 6:00 p.m. so I could leave from work and go straight to the audition.
So I check -in and I look around the room. We are all dressed in some ugly outfits. The only ladies that look good are auditioning for the bride role in the commercial, so they are wearing some stunning wedding dresses.
Ahhhh....always a bridesmaid...never a bride. But I digress...
Anyways, I'm invited into the casting room with a bride. We do the scene.
The casting director gives the bride an adjustment and for me says ' I love everything you are doing...omg it's funny!"
I'm totally rocking it and I can feel it and as I'm leaving the audition room the casting director says " You did a great job".
At that point I knew I had secured a call back and the next day my agent sends me an email confirming it.
What happened at the call back...
I arrive at the call back and the assistant asks if someone can go ahead of me as they have a rehearsal going on and need to get back to the theatre. So I agree.
So I'm then paired up with what I would like to say is the least prepared individual there. This bride isn't wearing a dress (although the casting agent asked for it). She's wearing jean shorts and a t-shirt. Just take into consideration that everyone and I mean everyone is dressed up.
So then we get into the audition room, she's so green (green = new to the business), she can't take direction she's overacting, the director is getting upset with her performance and he keeps giving her adjustments. She sounds and is acting really fake... When she screams it sounds like someone is torturing her...not screams of delight. I'm in my own horror movie, right then and there --- in what is suppost to be a comedy.
The scene isn't working - I'm doing my best to play off my scene partner, because it take two to tango...
The director thanks us, comments on how much he liked my dress and then I walk out that room and immediately know that I didn't book it.
Nope...Nada... Goodbye National commercial that would make me BIG BUCKS...
I let my agent know what happened. We wait for a response what I already knew was confirmed.
I didn't get the role.
